100 Things, Finally

For those of you who don’t care, you can skip this one. I’ve been working on this for so long, I finally was able to come up with 100 things.

  1. I was born in Boston, grew up in New Hampshire, and now live in California.
  2. I am a registered Democrat, but don’t subscribe to all their agenda items.
  3. I learned to knit when a teenager, but promptly forgot when Grammy went back to Canada.
  4. I like red wine, and white wine bothers my asthma.
  5. I’ve never had a pet,although my brother had a dog when I was a teenager.
  6. I have a half-brother and half-sister, neither of which I have spoken to in about 20 years.
  7. Instead of the family I was born with, I have another family with no blood ties who I consider my sisters.
  8. My husband was born in France but recently became an American citizen.
  9. I don’t speak French, but I try.
  10. Chinese food gives me nightmares, but I eat it anyway, when I want to.
  11. I watch too much TV. If I listed all the shows I watch, I would have to make another list of 100 things.

  1. I love my Tivo.
  2. I am a Gemini.
  3. I work at a movie studio. It’s not as glamorous as you’d think.
  4. I’ve only left North America once, to go to France last summer.
  5. I like to read more than one book at a time and let them compete for my attention.
  6. I am trying to improve my handwriting, because I spend all day on the keyboard and rarely have to write by hand anymore.
  7. I am on my fourth Palm PDA. My husband gets my hand-me-downs.
  8. I wish I had a maid.
  9. I like to knit with wool, but it’s often too hot to wear wool garments in Southern California.
  10. I think, in general, if you live life well and treat people fairly, you will have a good life. It’s when you start behaving in a way that pollutes the world that you start having bad things come back to you. Life doesn’t always start out fairly for everyone, and I think treating those people especially well restores balance in the universe.
  11. I am addicted to NPR.
  12. I often get lost in my thoughts because there are always so many of them at one time.
  13. I still love the Red Sox, hate the Yankees, and don’t really like Dodgers fans.
  14. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was a kid, but didn’t really excel at higher math.
  15. I prefer traditional garments to most of what’s in current knitting magazines, but for some reason I buy them anyway.
  16. My grandfather lives 4 time zones away.
  17. I have a white streak in my hair and recently found out that my Aunt also has one, as does her Aunt.
  18. I have the same license plate in CA as I last had in NH.
  19. My favorite band is Barenaked Ladies.
  20. I have seen them live more than 30 times. (Somewhen I lost count.)
  21. I drive a 2000 Honda CRV.
  22. I am a woman.
  23. I picked up a crochet hook in July 2001 because I was bored of summer TV and wanted to do something new.
  24. I grew tired of not finding interesting crochet patterns in September 2001 and when I saw that there was a Knit-Out in Santa Monica, I decided to learn to knit.
  25. My knitting obsession has nothing to do with September 11, 2001, despite what non-knitters think.
  26. I don’t get why people watch golf.
  27. I am agnostic. I am open to the possibility of a higher being, but I don’t believe it just because of a storybook.
  28. I usually get lost the first time I visit a new place, but will almost always remember how to get back there.

  31. I don’t steal music off the internet, because it’s mean, and there are no liner notes.

  33. I read the latest Harry Potter book in 2 days while knitting a baby sweater.
  34. I like to convince people of my point of view, but I think I can change too. But you better have a good argument for me to change my mind.

  41. I love Greek yogurt and have one each morning with my tea, and a banana.
  42. I rarely drink milk because it makes me notice my asthma, but sometimes I crave it and can’t stop myself. Milk is the best with day old spaghetti, but then you have to plan ahead :(.
  43. I don’t understand why there should be laws against gay marriage. I don’t understand how it affects anyone outside the marriage in any way.
  44. I also don’t understand people against a woman’s right to choose. If a person is against abortion, they should just not have one. They shouldn’t be able to tell anyone else what to do.
  45. I think pharmacists who don’t want to fill prescriptions for certain drugs should find a job doing something else.
  46. I’ve known my best friend since I was 10 and she was 8. We still get together once in a while and catch up.

  51. I prefer the strawberries in France to the ones I get here in So Cal. They taste completely different.

  54. I think religion has done more harm than good in the world.
  55. I worked in various record stores from 1986 until 1997. I still sometimes put things where they belong when I am shopping for music and DVDs.
  56. I have almost 1000 CDs.
  57. They are alphabetized by artist.
  58. I also have almost 800 vinyl records. They are also alphabetized by artist.
  59. I haven’t had a working turntable for six years. But I know I will someday buy a new one.
  60. I love listening to music or NPR, and don’t really enjoy silence. My husband is the opposite.
  61. My eyes change color, depending on my wardrobe or mood.
  62. My engagement ring is in the safe, but my wedding band is always on my finger.
  63. I smashed my left foot a couple of years ago and now I have a seemingly permanent bruise on the top of my foot and toes that looks like a big batch of freckles.
  64. I like listening to foreign language music when I am trying to avoid being distracted by the lyrics. I like movie and TV scores for the same reason. Think Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Buena Vista Social Club, or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Babylon 5.
  65. I love my 40GB iPod.

  67. My first favorite bands were ELO and the Police.
  68. I still listen to them both, and sing out loud. This makes my husband laugh.
  69. I often say things that my husband says he will write down and publish in a book about the things his wife said. Examples? How about “we are out of yellow.” He was very confused by this statement, but to me, it made perfect sense, since we have an inkjet that uses separate color cartridges.
  70. I think drug companies have no interest in curing anybody. They can’t make money if someone is cured, they need to keep them using the drugs so they can make more money.
  71. I think the policies of our government will cause a huge unemployed middle-class that can no longer afford to buy all the cheap imports that are being created by foreign workers. The economy will eventually collapse under the weight of the business deals that are going on at the expense of the people.
  72. I am not very good at keeping plants alive. I have a 1 yr old bamboo though, so maybe I am getting better.
  73. Before BNL, my most-concerts-attended band was the Alarm. Now, they kind of bore me.
  74. I don’t like to wear nail polish because it makes me feel claustrophobic. Elevators and tunnels don’t bother me, though.
  75. I hate the 405, but being able to carpool with my husband makes it more bearable.

  79. My favorite muppet is Grover.
  80. I like finishing a project before I start a new one, but have a hard time actually waiting for the first project to be done.

  82. I like Hershey’s chocolate better than Nestle’s, especially in Canada where it all tastes different.
  83. I went to Stitches West last year and ended up only buying some Cascade 220. What a disappointment.
  84. My favorite book of all time is The Stand by Stephen King
  85. My second favorite book is Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson
  86. I love Sci-Fi. Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica (2004+), Firefly are my current faves.
  87. When it comes to food, I’ll try anything once. I’ve already tried Tripe, so don’t even get it within a city block of me.
  88. I never made any prints of my wedding pictures.
  89. Thinking up 100 things is pretty difficult!

Update: I fixed the numbering – It looked fine when I posted, but I guess I broke it!
