So I made a swatch and then another, and now I have felted this on gauge swatch but with the Galway I had to use size 13 to get gauge, so it’s more like a lace swatch that’s fuzzy than a piece of felt.
Time to go shopping, and get the yarn actually called for in the recipe. Perhaps on the way home from work today. I tried last night but, this being southern California, and, it being Thursday, I really didn’t have a chance.
Does Thursday suck everywhere, or just California? I didn’t have much of a commute in NH, and I didn’t have a car in Boston, so it didn’t bother me as much if it took a little longer to get somewhere, I had a book or The Globe to read while I waited.

an ongoing failure in paying attention
Did you try the Galway doubled? It may be too thick that way but if it does work then at least you won’t have to buy…..
I wanted to let you know that I used Galway yarn (pink) and my slippers didn’t turn out so bad. 🙂 If anything, I would have gone with a tighter needle on my half (a size 10 instead of a 10.5)
I didn’t swatch, but I had great success! I felted today and they ended up the perfect shape. The Galway felts really nice and easy, I put it on agitate in the washing machine for awhile with a towel and dishsoap and then I sat there and rubbed it back and forth with my hands.
Just wanted to give you some hope for your slippers 🙂
